⚡ New Electricity Demand Connection Rules Coming Into Force – 1st June 2026 ⚡

From 1st June 2026, new “Minimum Requirements” will apply to all electricity demand connection applications greater than 5 MVA, these will apply to both formal quotations and Point of Connection (PoC) requests.

These changes reflect the growing impact of network queue management, which has already affected Generation and Transmission connections and is now extending into Distribution applications.

So, what does this mean for developers, contractors, and large energy intensive projects?

✅ More detailed application requirements
✅ Greater scrutiny of applications by Distribution Network Operators
✅ Risk of delays for incomplete submissions
✅ Stronger emphasis on accurate technical information from the outset
✅ Greater importance on early-stage planning

As connection timelines become increasingly critical to project delivery, getting applications right first time is becoming more important than ever.

At Premier Energy Services, we are already prepared for the updated ENA guidance and well placed to support clients in preparing compliant, robust applications to meet the new requirements.

Early engagement, accurate load data, and a clear understanding of development parameters  will be key to avoiding delays.

If you have upcoming projects requiring >5 MVA demand connections and would like to understand how these changes may affect your programme, feel free to get in touch.
