Openreach FTTP Lift Lines Trial Update

In November 2021 we shared an important update from Openreach announcing the switch off of their copper network. One of the issues from this decision is how future developments address the issue of serving Life Safety Services such as Lift Lines. These have traditionally been based on a copper network which also has the benefit of providing spoke loss of power back-up from their network exchanges.

Openreach have now completed a trial of a Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) analogue lift application and have compiled a case study detailing their findings. We wanted to share this as we know there were concerns around the future strategy for such installations across the developer community. All Technical Staff, Designers and Installers will find this document useful.

There is a second trial underway for a digital lift application which has not yet concluded. We will share the outcome from this when issued by Openreach.
